Reconstruction of Sacre Coeur Catholic Church

Port-au-Prince, Haiti

One of the largest churches in Haiti, the former church building for the Parish of Sacre Coeur was destroyed by the earthquake that shook Haiti in January 2010. Funded in collaboration between the Parish with support by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, the project envisions the reconstruction of the church on the same site. The design of the new church, featuring glue-laminated wood arches in the sanctuary for seismic stability, recalls much of the architectural language of the former building.
