Faculté des Sciences de Réhabilitation de Léogåne (FSRL)
Leogane, Haiti
It is estimated that Haiti has over 1.1 million citizens in need of the help of Occupational and Physical Therapists. Despite this need, there are only 50 trained Physical Therapists and only 1 Occupational Therapist - all of whom received their degrees from the Dominican Republic. In 2022, from rented facilities, Faculte des Sciences de Rehabilitation de Leogane (FSRL) has graduated 3 Haitian Occupational Therapists and 12 Haitian Physical Therapists. Though 75 students are currently enrolled in the program, more is needed to meet this growing demand for qualified therapists.
Haiti Rehabilitation Foundation has a vision to train highly qualified therapists on a new campus in Leogane, Haiti. The master plan includes classrooms (both general and therapy instruction), dormitories for students, a dining / multi-purpose pavilion and support facilities such as staff houses, administrative offices and site improvements. As a further compliment to the program, a private PT/OT clinic is being planned on the site to give hands-on training and potential employment to the students.
